Fiber Optic Installation & Splicing

For backbone connections, inter-building runs, and high-bandwidth applications, fiber optic is the only real answer. IT Umbrella Group installs, terminates, splices, and tests single-mode and multi-mode fiber across commercial, medical, and campus environments throughout the RGV.

When Copper Isn't Enough, Fiber Is the Answer.

Copper cabling has practical limits โ€” 100 meters for Cat6, susceptibility to electrical interference, and a ceiling on bandwidth that fiber blows past. For backbone connections between network closets, inter-building links across a campus, and connections that need to travel hundreds of meters, fiber is the right tool.

IT Umbrella Group handles the full fiber lifecycle: pathway planning, cable pulling, fusion splicing, enclosure termination, OTDR testing, and complete documentation. We work in new construction and existing buildings, above and below ground.

Don't guess at fiber performance โ€” test it. We OTDR-test every fiber run to measure actual optical loss and verify it meets the application's link budget. You get a test report showing each fiber strand's loss characteristics, identifying any splices or bends that could cause problems.

Everything Your Business Needs

Built for RGV businesses that can't afford downtime or surprises.

๐Ÿ’ก
Single-Mode Fiber
SM fiber for long-distance and high-bandwidth applications โ€” inter-building links, WAN connections, and runs exceeding 300 meters where multi-mode hits its limits.
๐ŸŒˆ
Multi-Mode Fiber
OM3/OM4 multi-mode for shorter backbone runs within a building โ€” typically 10GbE between network closets at distances under 300 meters.
๐Ÿ”—
Fusion Splicing
Permanent, low-loss fiber joints created with a fusion splicer. Lower loss and higher reliability than mechanical splices for permanent installations.
๐Ÿ“Š
OTDR Testing
Optical Time Domain Reflectometer testing that shows the loss profile of every fiber strand โ€” identifying splices, bends, and end-face quality along the entire run.
๐Ÿ—๏ธ
Underground Pathways
Directional boring, conduit installation, and underground fiber pulling for inter-building connections without aerial runs.
๐Ÿ“ฆ
Fiber Enclosures
Neat, labeled fiber patch panels and wall-mount enclosures that protect your fiber terminations and make patching clean and intuitive.

Simple Process.
Real Results.

Getting started is easy. Here's exactly what happens from day one.

1
Pathway Survey
We assess the route โ€” overhead, underground, or aerial โ€” identifying obstacles, measuring distances, and specifying the correct fiber type and count for your application.
2
Cable Pulling
Fiber pulled through conduit or cable tray with proper bend radius controls. Underground work coordinated with dig permits and utility locates.
3
Splicing & Termination
Fusion splicing at junction points, termination in fiber enclosures, and connector polishing to APC or UPC standards depending on application.
4
OTDR Testing & Docs
Every strand tested and loss measured. Test report delivered with as-built documentation showing fiber routes, splice locations, and enclosure port assignments.

Campus & Inter-Building Specialists

We've run fiber between buildings across active campuses โ€” coordinating underground boring, aerial spans, and conduit work with minimal disruption to operations. If it involves fiber in South Texas, we've done it.
